Great balancing of light and heavy tones. All can be heard clearly and nothing is muddled. As some state, there is a little bit of surface noise however. Although for my ears its not so bad on most songs.
Some are worse and some are better, but in general the music overpowers it with how loud its mastered. What bothers me most is how the records visually look dirty even when brand new. I can see which tracks are going to play worse. I rarely recommend cleaning but in this case it might be good. Its too bad there is no lyrics sheet, its understandable, but ever since Aesop rock included one in one of his albums its been evident that its possible. Yet another normal sleeve design holding 2 records. Luckely mine is free from ring tear so far.
But in general a fantastic album! Mastering wise alone its a 5/5 but with its few shortcomings like lackluster design and pressing the package could be better. Equipment used: Rega RP1 with Rega Carbon cartridge Cyrus 2 Amplifier System Fidelity SF-3050 tower speakers Custom made HQ speaker cables.

Every Wednesday we will discuss an album from our. Beginning with our list, we'll be moving chronologically to times. Last week's EAOTW: Album: - (RhymeSayers) Stream/Purchase Songs Background/Description(courtesy of AllMusic) Coming straight outta the rough'n'tumble surroundings of Minneapolis/St. Paul, the Rhymesayers clique is slowly but surely putting Minnesota on the hip-hop map. OK, so the frozen lands that gave listeners Prince and Morris Day & the Time may seem like a fairly unlikely setting for the next hip-hop hotbed, but you can't deny the talent the area's been bringing to the table.
Atmosphere God Loves Ugly Album
First, Eyedea won the country's biggest MC battle with a brilliant display of freestyle ability, now Atmosphere's latest album states the case that there are some serious skills in the Great White North. The group is fronted by Slug, whose densely packed rhymes on the opening 'Onemosphere' and 'The Bass & the Movement' showcase a clever lyrical flow that recalls early De La Soul if they'd been produced by El-P.
On 'Hair' and the title track, the MC exposes a refreshing sense of self-deprecating realism all too often lacking among the current hip-hop scene's posturing poseurs. Though the lo-fi D.I.Y. Production slows the momentum on a handful of tracks, when Slug's rhymes and producer Ant's beats click, the results are as good as underground hip-hop gets. Guidelines This is an open thread for you to share your thoughts on the album. Avoid vague statements of praise or criticism. This is your chance to practice being a critic.
It's fine for you to drop by just to say you love the album, but let's try and step it up a bit!!! How has this album affected hip-hop? WHY do you like this tape?
Atmosphere God Loves Ugly
What are the best tracks? Do you think it deserves the praise it gets?
Is it the first time you've listened to it? What's your first impression? Have you listened to the artist before? Explain why you like it or why you don't.
DON'T FEEL BAD ABOUT BEING LATE!!!! Discussion throughout the week is encouraged. I had this on fucking CASSETTE. Sometimes I think listening to God Loves Ugly at such an impressionable age in high school gave me a lifelong fascination for the loveable asshole archetype. Probably most solidified in 'Reflections' off Seven's Travels, but man. 'Hair' and 'Modern Man's Hustle' were a pretty good jumping off point.
I said I'll make you smile for the simple fact I'm good at it I'll make you smile just so I can sit and look at it In the midst of a superficial age, Slug managed to put it all out there and still remained the dude you wanted to fuck or chill with. Another thing I appreciate about this record is how strong the Midwest representation is.
Plenty of rappers rep their block or their hood on a surface level, but Slug is a master at show don't tell. Making you feel what it's like to live there, not just being proud of where you're from.
